I had never been to the Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawala before December 2007. True I was progressing on my 21 things to do before I turn 21 list by seeing a new place in Sri Lanka. I wasn’t too enthusiastic- nature really is not always my thing. I’m more of a culture gal myself. [...]

The waves crashing against the side of the old fort walls as it has for many centuries, was almost poetic and oddly significant telling of the toll of time.

Standing atop the ramparts, the Galle Fort lighthouse is a dazzling sight as it sparkles in the distance.

Someone told me a while back that this was an old Dutch church which had been converted into a Mosque. I’m not sure how accurate it is but glistening white in the bright afternoon sun- it was simply in harmony with the world.
